Coaching Staff

Michigan Lacrosse Camps Director - John Paul
John Paul is one of the most successful coaches in the country. He has established himself as not only a great coach, but also as an ambassador of the game. In his 12 years as head coach at Michigan he has built a program that is known for its success on and off the field.
Under Paul the Wolverines have over an .820 win percentage and have captured 9 conference titles. The 2008 team became the first MCLA team to go undefeated as they captured the national championship and finished with a perfect 20-0 record. In 2009 the team repeated as national champions and once again finished undefeated. Paul was honored as the MCLA Coach of the Year in 2008 and as the LaxMag Coach of the Year in 2009. His teams have produced 51 MCLA All-Americans.
Paul is the former president of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association and has served on the Board of Directors of US Lacrosse, the USL Coaches Council and the Michigan Chapter of USL. He also helps coach the University of Tokyo lacrosse team in Japan.

Attack Camp Director - Ken Broschart
Ken Broschart made an immediate impact when he joined the Michigan coaching staff for the 2008 season, and he hasn’t lost a game in Maize and Blue yet. A three time NCAA Division 2 All-American at defense at New York Tech, Broschart coaches the offense at Michigan. Previous to taking the job at Michigan, he spent four years as the head coach at the University of Arizona where he guided the Wildcats to three WCLL finals and four MCLA Tournaments. He was the WCLL Coach of the Year in 2004. Broschart’s 2008 Michigan offense averaged 15.46 points per game, and this year the offense improved to 16.46 points per game.

Goalie Camp Director - Ryan Demorest
Now in his second year on the Michigan coaching staff, Ryan Demorest oversees one of the top goalie units in the MCLA. A 2006 graduate of Limestone University, Demorest was a high-school All-American at Birmingham Seaholm High School. He still plays goalie at a high level, and he is involved in numerous camps and clinics around the country.

Defense Camp Director - Scott Morrison
After spending three years as the defensive coordinator at Michigan, Morrison moved on in the fall of 2008 to become the head coach at the University of Arizona for a year. He is currently the defensive coordinator at NCAA Division 3 Trine University. While at Michigan, Morrison led a defense that developed into one of the top units in the MCLA. His 2008 defense held 19 of 20 opponents to single digits, held three teams scoreless, gave up an average of just 5 goals per game, and boasted over an 80% man-down penalty kill percentage. He played at NCAA D2 Northwood University.

Midfield Camp Director - John Galvin
Galvin has been the head coach at Colorado for six years, and he has led the Buffalos to consistent top-10 national rankings and five MCLA tournament appearances. In 2006 he led his team to the MCLA championship game in Dallas. In 2004 he was the RMLC and MCLA Coach of the Year. A native of Long Island, Galvin started his coaching career as an assistant coach at NCAA Division 3 powerhouse Cortland State. He played his college lacrosse at Ohio Wesleyan.

Faceoff Camp Director -- Brekan Kohlitz
Brekan Kohlitz joined the Michigan coaching staff in 2008 after spending four seasons as a faceoff specialist. He ended his playing career at Michigan as one of the most honored Wolverines in program history. Kohlitz compiled over a 70% faceoff win percentage over his career and set Michigan records for faceoff wins and ground balls. He was a 1st-Team All-American for his final two seasons and the 2008 MCLA Tournament MVP. In May of 2008 Kohlitz became the first MCLA player ever selected in the MLL draft, and he spent that summer playing for the Washington Bayhawks.
